Shanghai Green Pak Choy is grown spring and fall in Palm Rae Potager. I have grown it for the past 5 years, and it is one of my favorites!
It has beautiful shaped leaves.
Here, is one sitting at the base of some calendula flowers. I noticed when I planted them together this year I did not have as many problems with eaten leaves. Growing Flowers , Vegetables and Herbs together in an Urban Potager design helps with pests.
I have grown head cabbage in Palm Rae Potager, but it takes up too much space. I practice succession planting  and head cabbage takes too long. I decided only to plant Pak Choy since they are ready  to harvest in 45 days. They handle the cold weather remarkably  well. They do bolt in the early summer, but by that time I'm ready for summer crops.Shanghai Pak Choy is perfect for spring and fall vegetable rolls.
I stir fried them gently in olive oil with red kale, mustard and parsley.
Pak choy is very nutritious. YUM!
